Debbie Baker

Deborah Baker retired after 30 years as a band director and now works with Kaleidoscope Adventures as a Tour Consultant. She taught middle school and high school in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. Bands under her leadership consistently earned Superior ratings at evaluated festivals and have received invitations to perform at many clinics and conventions. With the Hillcrest High School Wind Ensemble, she conducted at the Music For All National Concert Band Festival and the University of Alabama Honor Band Festival. While at Flat Rock Middle School, the Symphonic Band received invitations to perform at the Georgia Music Educators Conference, the National Middle School Conference, University of Georgia Middle School Band Festival, Southeastern United States Band Clinic, and was very proud to perform for Georgia Governor Perdue at the Signing of the HOPE Scholarship Legislation. Her bands have performed at Universal Studios, Walt Disney World, OrlandoFest, Six Flags Over Georgia, and Carowinds Band Festival.

Debbie received the Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Florida. She has been awarded Teacher of the Year at Flat Rock Middle School and Perry Middle School. She is a recipient of the George Angelluci Award for Outstanding Teachers, received the Women Band Directors International Scroll of Excellence, has been awarded the National Band Association Citation of Excellence several times, and is an Honorary Member of Kappa Kappa Psi. Debbie is a Board of Trustee member and Past National President of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority.

Debbie is active as a band clinician, guest conductor, and motivational speaker throughout the Southeast. Debbie holds membership in National Association for Music Educators, Alabama Music Educators Association, Georgia Music Educators Association, and Student Youth Travel Association.

Debbie is married to Glenn Baker, who is a retired Air Traffic Controller. Their daughter, Belinda, is a General Music teacher in Jacksonville, Florida.
