Kyle Stec is an educator and performer currently serving as saxophone instructor for the Flower Mound HS and Marcus HS clusters in the north Texas area. As a soloist, Kyle has been named National 2nd Prize Winner of the Music Teacher National Association Young Artist Woodwind Competition and winner of the UNT Concerto Competition. As a chamber musician, he has won MTNA chamber music competitions in Indiana and Texas. While at UNT, Kyle has served as section leader of the renowned North Texas Wind Symphony and as a saxophone Teaching Fellow, acting as primary teacher for a studio of Music Education and Jazz Studies majors. Former college students have gone on to earn section leader positions with the North Texas Wind Symphony, awards in MTNA Chamber Music Competitions, and graduate assistantships. Former high school students regularly earn positions in Indiana and Texas All State bands and receive scholarships to continue their musical study at major universities. Kyle is a recipient of the Jo Ann Dunn Fargason Prize, Thelma Hearn Award, UNT Teaching Fellowship, Ed and Julia Hodges Memorial Scholarship, UNT Saxophone Scholarship, ISSMA Band Scholarship, and Mary B. Smith Scholarship for the Performing Arts. Currently, Kyle is completing a Doctor of Musical Arts at UNT. He previously completed a MM at UNT and BM at Indiana University. Primary teachers include Dr. Eric Nestler, Dr. Otis Murphy, and Dennis Sizemore.
