Miles Wurster serves as Director of Instrumental Music at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. At MLC he conducts the MLC Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble, coordinates chamber ensembles, and teaches courses in conducting, music education and applied instrument lessons. During his time at MLC, the instrumental program has flourished; with participation in ensembles, applied lessons, and number of music majors growing steadily each year. The Wind Symphony, MLC’s premier instrumental ensemble, performs several concerts per year and tours annually in support of the mission of the college and the music program.
A native of Minnesota, Wurster has earned degrees from Bethany Lutheran College, in Mankato, MN, Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, VanderCook College of Music, in Chicago, IL and Minnesota State University, Mankato. Currently, Wurster is pursuing his Doctor of Arts degree at Ball State University studying conducting with Thomas Caneva. Wurster has also studied conducting with Amy Roisum-Foley, Charles Menghini, Erik Janners, and Douglas Nimmo.
