Francis Favis is a percussionist based in the Washington DC area. Hailing from Illinois, he enjoys an active teaching and performing schedule. Francis has performed with groups such as the Heartland Festival Orchestra, American Festival Pops Orchestra, Honor Band of America, and Cavaliers Indoor Percussion. As a soloist, he was featured most recently with the GMU Symphonic Band on John Mackey’s Drum Music. Other recent appearances include solo Timpani on Michael Daugherty’s Raise the Roof, and performances at the McCormick Marimba Festival. He has also been accepted into programs such as the Nief-Norf Summer Festival and So Percussion Summer Institute. Francis holds a B.M in Music Performance from Illinois State University, and is currently pursuing a Master of Music from George Mason University. His primary teachers include Kyle Johnson, David Collier, Ben Stiers, and John Kilkenny.
