The YYPA program recognizes outstanding young musicians from the world of classical, jazz, and contemporary music. Known as America’s Big Band, the Jazz Ambassadors are the premier touring jazz orchestra of the United States Army. Formed in 1969, this 19-piece ensemble has received critical acclaim throughout the United States and abroad, performing America’s original art form, jazz.

Comedian, musician, writer, and producer Fred Armisen’s show is a mix of musings and musical vignettes, marked by his understated and cerebral comedic sensibilities. While the show is rooted in comedy, musicians will understand and appreciate the humor. Armisen presents a fun mix of musical observations and demonstrations (Fred performs a variety of instruments including Latin percussion, drum set, guitar, bass guitar). He is the ultimate Music Appreciation instructor!
An 11-season veteran of Saturday Night Live, Fred has engaged audiences with memorable impressions and characters. He is the co-writer and co-star of IFC’s Emmy-nominated series Portlandia and can be seen in the hit Netflix series Wednesday as Uncle Fester. He stars as “Tico” in HBO’s Los Espookys, which he co-wrote and executive produced. He can also be heard in the hit animated Super Mario Bros movie. Armisen stars in, writes, and produces IFC’s hit show Documentary Now, for which he has received two Emmy nominations, and can be seen and/or heard in many other films and shows as both a comedian and musician.

Featuring Carolina Crown, Phantom Regiment, and the Cavaliers
This event, produced in partnership with Drum Corps International, is non-adjudicated and features special extended performances and interviews with staff and designers from each corps at the end of each performance. The event will conclude with a special encore performance by Carolina Crown joined by the students in the Bands of America Summer Camp Marching Band Division.
Tickets for the DCI Tour Preview are not included in the free offerings for Muncie community members.
