Today was the last full day of the Summer Symposium. Needless to say, it has been a long, exciting day! Our marching band and marching percussion members spent the day gearing up for their performances with the Carolina Crown at the Drum Corps International Central Indiana Show.
Our orchestra and jazz divisions were able to get out into the Muncie Community today as they performed at the Muncie Foodie Friday event. We also welcomed our Central Indiana Track Show Association schools to campus. It was especially cool to welcome some CITSA schools to camp today after a few of our faculty members spent time earlier in the week helping them improve their marching band show. The level of excitement exuding from students, staff, and faculty reached a new high today. These are the moments we have been waiting for.
It was really cool to see students from all backgrounds on the edges of their seats for the DCI show. Some students have never been seen a drum corps show before; others are DCI regulars. No matter what the case may be, all of our students are truly inspired in some way by seeing such a dynamic display of the marching arts.
Tomorrow, our indoor divisions will close camp with their final performances. These are the moments that they have rehearsed for all week. Parents will be able to see the progress their students have made as musicians, leaders, and young professionals. I hope every camper leaves with a positive memory they will never forget. The 2019 Summer Symposium was one for the books. I am so glad that I was granted the opportunity to witness such joy and true passion each one of our campers has. Tomorrow, we’re going to give it all we’ve got!
